Stan Collymore has stated that Chelsea could use a player of Mesut Ozil’s creative abilities and should make an offer in the region of £60-70 million for the Arsenal star.

The Blues have signed Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante this summer but Antonio Conte’s men are still expected to bolster their squad further before the end of the transfer window.

The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Oscar are in contention to play as the West London side’s number ten this term and have work to do to prove their worth after an abject 2015-16.

Collymore has stated that Chelsea are missing a player to orchestrate their play in the final third and listed Ozil as someone who would make the Blues a better team.

The former England international has stated that although unlikely to be accepted by Arsenal, a bid for the Germany international would make sense.

“I just don’t see Fabregas as a great No.10 – he’s a Jack of all trades and master of none,” Collymore wrote in The Mirror.

“He’s not in the same league, for example, as Mesut Ozil, who can do much more in bossing games.

“While I’m sure Ozil won’t be going anywhere, if I was Conte, I’d put in a cheeky £60-£70million bid to see if it got him.”

Chelsea open their Premier League campaign with a clash against London rivals West Ham tonight.
