Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand ahead of a potential offer later this summer, according to France Football.

The 23-year-old is predominantly a centre-half but has the versatility to play at full-back if needs be and has broken into the Stade Louis II first team in recent times.

A product of the club’s fabled youth system that produced Thierry Henry, Tisserand has also starred while out on loan at a number of other French clubs, most recently Toulouse.

A former under-19 and 20 international, the versatile defender has this year made his international debut for African nation Congo and looks set to have a bright future.

Arsenal have a lack of fit and firing central defenders currently and the acquisition of Tisserand would offer Arsene Wenger an additional option at the heart of his rearguard.

Monaco may well be reluctant to part company with the enforcer given that he is part of the club’s future plans.
