Will he? Won’t he? He didn’t. Jamie Vardy recently confirmed that he will remain at Leicester City after snubbing a move to Arsenal.

The 29-year-old was high on Arsene Wenger’s shopping list this summer, and the Gunners reportedly triggered the player’s release clause (believed to be £20 million) before Euro 2016 kicked off. This then sparked speculation and anticipation amongst the Arsenal faithful on whether or not Vardy will join the North London club this summer. But after all the talk, reports and guessing, the England striker put the story to bed by deciding to stay at the King Power Stadium.

Some of the Arsenal fans may be disappointed by Vardy’s decision, but others (like myself) will feel that the striker has missed his one and only opportunity to play for an illustrious club – let’s face it, it’s highly unlikely that a top team in Europe will make a move for him when his deal at Leicester expires.

In any case, I wish him well and hope he doesn’t live to regret his decision to snub Arsenal.

So Arsenal failed to sign Vardy, and now it remains to be seen who Wenger targets as an alternative.

Clearly Wenger is keen to add another striker to the current squad, otherwise he wouldn’t have approached Leicester for Vardy’s services.

There are number of alternatives out there and with this in mind, who should Arsenal now go for?
