Kelechi Nwakali Samuel ChukwuezeArsenal appear to be in pole position ahead of Bayern Munich to secure the services of Nigerian starlets Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze.

The Times suggests Bayern Munich were among several clubs looking to land the African players, but Arsene Wenger has built a reputation of plucking young talent from opposition clubs and developing them into world-beaters or at best get them noticed and playing first-team football. And it now seems the Frenchman is set to do the same with Nwakali, 17, and Chukwueze, 16.

The young duo were standout performers in Nigeria’s Under-17 World Cup triumph in Chile last year, with Nwakali named as the player of the tournament.

It’s thought that the pair are currently having their visas processed in order to travel to London to potentially sign for the Gunners this month. Should they do so, they will not be able to sign professional contracts with the club until their 18th birthday.

The pair will reportedly cost a minimum of £3 million in combined fees.

These players rarely develop into first team players. Buy at 23 to 25 and improve tje squad. We have loads of youth already.
