Dani CeballosArsenal will attempt to sign Real Betis starlet Dani Ceballos before the January transfer window closes, according to reports in Spain.

The 19-year-old has played 61 times for Betis since his promotion to the senior squad and has now become a regular for Juan Merino’s side.

Ceballos was also part of the Spain squad that won the Under-19 championships in Greece this year, as well as being capped seven times for the Under-21 side.

Arsenal were previously linked with a move for the young midfielder, and it’s been suggested by Spanish publication Fichajes, as reported by the Daily Express, that the Gunners are keen to get a deal done before the window closes.

Ceballos’ performances last season for Betis earned him a new five-year deal in October, but the teenager could be tempted to leave the La Liga club if Arsenal come calling.

However, the Gunners could face competition for the player’s signature, with Atletico Madrid and Napoli both believed to be interested in his services.

Although Ceballos recently signed a new deal to remain at the Benito Villamarin, it is understood that he has a £9.2 million release clause which could potentially rise to £11.5 million with add-ons.

Wenger is renowned for poaching young stars and developing their talent further, and the Frenchman could do the same with Ceballos.

Wenger has, however, already brought in Mohamed Elneny from Basel this January, meaning he may not be so keen to bring in yet another midfielder this month.
