alexandre patoJuliano Belletti has encouraged Alexandre Pato to join Arsenal rather than Chelsea, if the Brazilian decided to make a move to the Premier League.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona full-back believes the striker’s abilities and individual qualities would fit better in either the La Liga or at Arsenal because of the way Arsene Wenger’s side plays football.

Pato, 26, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, and the Brazil international has previously stated that he would love to one-day play in England.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Spurs have all been touted as possible destinations for the Corinthians man, while former Gunner Edu also revealed last November that Wenger has also enquired about Pato’s services.

Chelsea supposedly lead the race for his signature, with ESPN Brazil claiming his agent, Gilmar Veloz, was in talks with the Premier League champions.

However, Belletti, 39, reckons a move to Arsenal or La Liga would suit Pato’s style of play:

‘I think he has a lot to offer Spanish football. The quality he has and the way he plays is more compatible with Spain.

‘In England, I no longer know. Maybe Arsenal, since Wenger always gambles on nice football and individual talent.’

Arsene Wenger has supposedly been looking to add a new forward to the squad – would Pato be a good option for the Frenchman to consider?
