Who’d be in your Arsenal XI to take on Southampton?

Arsene WengerArsenal have been flying high as of late, and their latest 2-1 victory over title rivals Manchester City on Monday night have made the doubters sit up and take notice.

Arsene Wenger’s side currently sit second in the Premier League, four points above Manchester City and two adrift of table topping Leicester City.

Next for the Gunners is a trip down to Southampton on Boxing Day.

Unlike Arsenal, The Saints have failed to hit the heights they reached last season, and have picked up just one point in their last five Premier League games, leaving them languishing in 12th place.

Although the Gunners haven’t lost in their last six games in all competitions, the last time they met Ronald Koeman’s was back in January where the Dutchman’s side prevailed 2-0 – and a win for them this time around would be priceless to say the very least.

Wenger will not be able to welcome back any of his injured players for Saturday’s game, including Alexis Sanchez, who has suffered a setback on his hamstring.

But Arsenal have managed so far with a depleted squad and will go into the game against Southampton confident they can get something out of it – hopefully all three points.

So with that being said, what should Arsenal’s starting line-up be for the game this weekend?

Here is how I would play it:

Cech

Bellerin         Mertesacker         Koscielny         Monreal

Flamini         Ramsey

Campbell         Ozil         Walcott

Giroud

It’s the same side that beat City and one that is more than capable of dealing with the Saints.

Would you change anything in this line-up?

I think Arsenal fans have reacted in the same way as Spurs and Liverpool after good wins over City this season. You’ve won nothing yet, nothing, and City have proved that they can haul back points deficits of more than 6 points when winning their two Premier League titles. There’s a lot of Gooners out there that seem to be pitching tents along the parade route already.
