Danilo PereiraWith the January transfer window set to open next week, Arsenal will undoubtedly be linked with a number of potential arrivals. The latest being Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira, with reports in Portugal suggesting the Gunners are preparing a move for the 24-year-old.

It is believed that Arsene Wenger will venture into the January market in search of a defensive midfielder after losing the services of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla through long-term injuries, and the Frenchman has reportedly sent scouts to Porto to run the rule on Pereira.

According to Portuguese publication O Jogo, as reported by talkSPORT, Wenger has received positives reviews from his scouts on the player and is now ready to make a move for him next month.

Porto, however, are unlikely to sell Pereira, having only signed the Portugal international from Martimo last summer, but could have their head turned if a big-money offer is tabled.

Pereira, who primarily is a defensive midfielder, can also be deployed as a centre-back and is thought to be valued at around £3.5 million. He has made 22 total appearances for Porto so far this season, scoring two goals along the way.

Now wenger tell me there ain’t better players out there. Is anyone gonna back me up on mertisacker? He is the worst defender i have ever seen yet wenger loves him and is happy to let the big useless german lose us the league. What is steve bould doing?
