Should Wenger answer his call?

|

Adrien RabiotArsenal could acquire the services of Paris-Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot this January after the youngster asked for a loan move away from the French Capital.

The 20-year-old has expressed his concerns over the lack of playing time at PSG, despite starting the past seven games for the Ligue 1 leaders.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly kept tabs on Rabiot over the past year and could finally make a move for him when the January transfer window, especially with the club’s current injury woes.

Rabiot told Telefoot, as reported the Daily Mirror, that he has asked the PSG president for a temporary move away this winter:

‘I’ve asked the president for a loan move in January if my time on the field is insufficient. It’s something that he can’t refuse me – I know he likes me very much.

‘When you train all week, you want to be on the field. Sometimes it’s not possible and it’s frustrating.

‘Paris is my city. It’s great to play here. If I could impose myself here, it would be brilliant. I would be ready to play my whole career at PSG if I was a starter. I would see things differently, that’s for sure.’

It is believed Rabiot wants a move away from PSG this January in order to enhance his chances of making Didier Deschamps’ France squad for Euro 2016.

With Rabiot keen on departing PSG on a loan, has the time finally come for Wenger step in?

Having watched the youngster on a number of occasions this season, plus our current injury problems, I would strongly urge Wenger to go in for Rabiot. It makes perfect sense as Wenger would more than likely only have to pay for a loan fee to PSG, which won’t be too damaging to his funds. Plus, with Santi Cazorla out for possibly the season with a knee problem, we could do with someone of Rabiot’s quality coming in to ease the loss of the Spaniard.

Rabiot’s potential arrival would sort out some of our midfield problems and wouldn’t cost us a major fee.

Should we sign Rabiot, then all Wenger has to do is acquire a forward and try to bring in a defensive midfielder (preferably on loan until the end of the season) if of course the Frenchman can’t secure a permanent transfer.
