Spanish publication Don Balon claims the Chile international has spoken to Wenger about a potential move for the 27-year-old, insisting he would be the perfect signing for the Gunners this January.
It was reported a few days ago that Wenger was keeping tabs on the Bayer Leverkusen forward, and that the Frenchman was preparing a move for him when the winter window opens on Friday.
Hernandez spent last season on loan at Real Madrid and was eventually sold by United over the summer to Bayer Leverkusen.
The Mexico international has revived his career at the German club, where he has scored 11 goals in 12 Bundesliga starts so far this season.
Although he still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his Leverkusen contract, Hernandez could be tempted with a move back to England, with Sanchez believing his fellow South American would be a signing that could win Arsenal the Premier League title.
