aleksandr kokorinArsenal are preparing a January approach for Dynamo Moscow forward Aleksandr Kokorin, according to reports in Russia.

It is thought Arsene Wenger is keen to add a new striker to his squad during the winter window, and it appears the Frenchman is ready to reignite his reported interest in Kokorin who he tried to sign two-years ago.

Russian newspaper Izvestia claims Dynamo and Arsenal are currently negotiating a fee for the 24-year-old, with an agreement set to be reached by the end of the month.

Kokorin’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Dynamo appear to be keen to cash in on him rather than risk losing him on a free.

It’s believed the Russian club are willing to sell him to the Gunners on a cut-price fee of around £4.3 million when the January transfer window opens.

Aston Villa are understood to have an interest in the Russia international but will struggle to compete with Arsenal financially for his services.

Kokorin, who can also play as a left forward or second striker, has netted six goals in 12 appearances for both club and country this season.
