What a pointless transfer window for Arsenal!

Arsene WengerSo the summer transfer window has officially closed for another year, and Arsenal only managed to make one signing – Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Arsenal fans were hoping to see a defensive midfielder and a top class striker arrive at the Emirates before today’s deadline, but they were left disappointed. The Gunners were linked with a number of high-profile players in both positions, but Arsene Wenger and co. did not manage to get any deals done on the final day of the summer transfer window, having seen in the past two summers Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez arrive for big money.

But Only Cech has arrived at the club since the end of last season, and although he is a great signing, Arsenal fans will feel that the addition of the experienced goalkeeper to the squad is not enough for the Gunners to be crowned Premier League champions come late-May next year.

With so much money in the bank and the needs for players in the desired positions mentioned above, it’s bamboozling to see that Wenger hasn’t answered our calls. Does the Frenchman truly believe that this squad have enough about them to win the Premier League title this season? Well I don’t because we have exactly the same squad as we did last season but have ousted David Ospina and Wojceich Szczesny in favour of Cech, that’s it!

Wenger’s naivety and stubbornness will in time prove to be costly once again, and it annoys me that everyone else can see what the side needs except for the Frenchman.

Very poor summer transfer window for Arsenal, but I will stand by the club and hope they can deliver the goods this season. However, I doubt it.

Wenger is a confused old man. If a club like man city are still buying the likes of Kevin, how much more a toothless club like Arsenal. Wenger should compare himself again with Coaches like Mou, Vangaal etc cos they are far better than him when it comes to decision making. Wenger sucks.

only if i hav my way, Wenger should go back to France and manage a lower league club and not a club as big as Arsenal FC with worldwide fan base, useless stingy and greedy man

Arsenal should’ve sold Walcott and bought quality. The inflated price of English players would have offset a significant portion of even a Benzema/Cavani level outlay.

The suggestion that 1.) It is sensical to suggest that it wouldn’t have been worthwhile buying a 27 year old striker of Benzema’s callibre 2.) There was not quality in the market available in the positions that we required them is applicable only when you do not consider the duration of time that Arsenal have lacked quality in those postions.

I am willing to accept the notion that there was not a top quality BBM/DM and ST available in the market today. I am not willing to accept that it has been that way for the duration of time that these positions have needed filling.

Arsenal have no justification for charging greater ticket prices than Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid and balking at the wage demands of incoming players. Arsenal have no leg on which to stand when talking about managing a club the ‘right way’ and playing football the ‘right way’ when each of those teams score more goals, win more matches, win more competitions and generate more revenue. Our wage structure has been unfathomably ill thought out for my entire adult life. (If online fiigures are to be believed Walcott earns in the ball park of OR more money than: Griezmann, Aubameyang, Thomas Muller, Pedro (Barcelona), Remy). And until the last 18 months, our income from secondary revenue streams was woeful (And arguably still is) compared to our European competitors and even Manchester United.

Squad unity is a completely ridiculous premise for not buying players. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all maintained team identity and team philosophy while consistently adding to the team during trophy laden stretches of time. And so too did Arsenal when they were a successful team.

Once again Wenger hasn not disappointed his bosses on the board by keeping the cash where they want it… in their pockets as usual. No regards for the long suffering and over paying fans whose only desire is for Arsenal Fc to put up a good fight for the epl title . But nay , 4th is good enough for Wenger and his bosses. Very limited ambition. Absolute letdown . 20 years in charge and not a single champions league trophy to show for all the years . The man only has eyes for French players even when they are just average performers. Makes me wonder if Arsenal has become a French club located in North London, run by a French man scouting for French players only.
Meanwhile France is not a football powerhouse anymore, so ………Arsene Wenger be advised and go back to France , pick a little French club with little ambition and continue with your experiments at serial failings!
