What a pointless transfer window for Arsenal!

Arsene WengerSo the summer transfer window has officially closed for another year, and Arsenal only managed to make one signing – Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Arsenal fans were hoping to see a defensive midfielder and a top class striker arrive at the Emirates before today’s deadline, but they were left disappointed. The Gunners were linked with a number of high-profile players in both positions, but Arsene Wenger and co. did not manage to get any deals done on the final day of the summer transfer window, having seen in the past two summers Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez arrive for big money.

But Only Cech has arrived at the club since the end of last season, and although he is a great signing, Arsenal fans will feel that the addition of the experienced goalkeeper to the squad is not enough for the Gunners to be crowned Premier League champions come late-May next year.

With so much money in the bank and the needs for players in the desired positions mentioned above, it’s bamboozling to see that Wenger hasn’t answered our calls. Does the Frenchman truly believe that this squad have enough about them to win the Premier League title this season? Well I don’t because we have exactly the same squad as we did last season but have ousted David Ospina and Wojceich Szczesny in favour of Cech, that’s it!

Wenger’s naivety and stubbornness will in time prove to be costly once again, and it annoys me that everyone else can see what the side needs except for the Frenchman.

Very poor summer transfer window for Arsenal, but I will stand by the club and hope they can deliver the goods this season. However, I doubt it.

My patience has now run out with Wenger why oh why we are so far behind other clubs and we needn’t be we’ve the funds all I can say another mediocre season, again!!

Mostly fair comment but it’s clear there was a shortage of available high quality strikers. What would you prefer, spend 36 million on an unknown teenager or several million less on Austin from Qpr who is not as good as what we have. Probably unforgivable is not getting Scheiderlin if he really did want to come to us. He would have made a difference over a season.

Manager for Sale! A raw-talent, but seems reluctant to take the last few steps to be the finished article.

It’s a perfect transfer window for..

-winning the all important 4th place trophy (main job done)
-getting knocked in the last 16 tie by Barcelona (other main job done)
-making excuses along the lines of ‘injuries cost us’ in May
-not having to deal with strong personalities/leaders in the dressing room or those who complain about their lack of playing time
-not ‘killing’ the likes of Le Coq etc…
