Arsenal have been put on red alert with reports suggesting Lazio striker Keita Balde Diao has handed in a transfer request.
The 20-year-old Barcelona academy product was supposedly on Arsenal’s radar during pre-season and the club could look to re-ignite their interest in the youngster following their disappointing Premier League opener against West Ham yesterday afternoon.
According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, as reported by the Daily Express, Diao is ready to force trough a move after reacting angrily to being dropped for Lazio’s Italian Super Cup loss to Juventus last weekend.
Diao, who featured 23 times (six as a starter) and scored just the once for Lazio Last season, is regarded as one of Europe’s hottest properties, but manager Stefano Pioli is believed to be happy to let him leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer.
It is understood that an offer of £10.6 million would be enough to land the striker.
But following Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham, would the potential acquisition of Diao go down well with the Emirates faithful? Seven goals in 58 appearances would suggest otherwise.
