Would you sell him for £50M?

Aaron RamseyIt is one of the biggest transfer rumours so far this summer, Barcelona want to sign Aaron Ramsey and are reportedly willing and ready to splash out £50 million on the Welsh midfielder.

Barca legend Xavi is off to Qatar and the new La Liga champions are looking for a replacement and believe Ramsey is the ideal candidate for the job.

But the 24-year-old has dismissed reports linking himself with a move to the Camp Nou, stating the transfer rumour is not in his mind and is focused on Arsenal for the time being – how long for remains to be seen.

However, should reports prove to be accurate and Barcelona do table a £50 million offer for Ramsey this summer, should Arsenal sell? Well I think this would be a no-brainer for many Arsenal fans. Even though I do like Ramsey as a player, the Wales international is an inconsistent performer for me – one day he will play awful and try too hard to impress, and another he will be the best player on the pitch, driving the team forward with his runs and attacks. He has become a household name in recent seasons and has scored some wonderful and important goals for the club.

However, a £50 million offer would be too good to turn down for the Gunners, and I reckon Arsene Wenger would definitely consider selling him for that amount, regardless if the Frenchman thinks the world of Aaron’s ability.

To be honest, if Ramsey was to leave, I believe we do have players in the current squad that can take his place, like Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and even Jack Wilshere, who had his place in the side nabbed by the Welshman two years ago, and with the potential £50 million funds received from his sale, I’m sure Wenger could find a more than capable replacement.

Despite Rasmey swiftly brushing off Barca’s interest, he must be contemplating a move to the Camp Nou – any and every player would do so, and the chance to play with the likes of Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta, Neymar and Lionel Messi only comes once in a career. Can Ramsey afford to let this chance slip?

It remains to be seen whether this transfer rumour becomes more than this, but if Barca do table £50 million to Arsenal for Ramsey then I think Wenger and the club should accept it.

I thought Barca were banned until 2016 from buying anyone thus rendering this article as irrelevant?

They are banned only for under 21 squad. They bought Suarez last year and can buy anyone this year for first team

Ramsey is better in CM than any of our current squad. Why the hell would we sell him for cash when we are already cash rich? We want to improve our team not weaken it!

No way pls wenger dnt sell ramsey u knw say dat guy na good and futur stay abeg no try am

Sell Ramsey??? What are you on? But, it is no brainer to SELL Jack Wilshere – even to direct competitors and for far less amount. Arsenal has been CARRYING Wilshere for far too long.

We have no reason to sell anyone, specially with our injury record!

    Barcelona should buy him

Hell to the no! We need to strengthen not weaken. Keep all our important players. Sell only dead wood and add more quality.

Whatever gooners want to think about how great Ramsey is (probably the same gooners who were booing him a couple of years ago) Wilshere is infinitely the better player. So £50m for Ramsey with a buy back clause for half that amount if Barca want to sell? Absolutely. Get Wilshere and The Ox doing the Rambo role and watch them excel.

    What a ridiculous rumour!!! LOL!

You think Barca, a disciplined, technical and organized team, would go for a guy who, altough he does posses very good football abilities, don’t have any sense of positional awereness (he would bomb forward and act like a 4th striker), gets injured way too often and takes forever to get back into the groove? Not a chance!

Only Arsenal fans seems him as a truly world class midfielder. He’s very good, but not world class, at all

  • Mark says:

Not at all, you don’t sell your best players to other teams if you have any future ambitions to be among the best. If his worth is £50m then we want to keep him. we need to be like Bayrn and keep our best players and not to follow the example of Tottenham and Liverpool, look where they are now.
