Arsenal have tabled an opening £18.2 million for Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to reports in Spain.
The Gunners have been reportedly linked with a big-money move for the Monaco midfielder earlier this and have supposedly opened negotiations with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 22-year-old French enforcer, who featured in both legs of the Champions league Last 16 Round against Arsenal this season, has been in impressive form for Monaco, and has quickly established himself in the French side.
However, it is understood Monaco are in some financial difficulty and could offload some of their star players, including Kondogbia, in order to raise funds.
Fichajes.net claim Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the former Sevilla man and has offered Monaco a tempting offer for his services.
It is believed Monaco will reject the £18.2 million offer, but this will not deter Arsenal’s interest, who are keen to add a defensive midfielder before the start of the new season.
Kondogbia is certainly making a name for himself around Europe and his versatility could well be an asset to Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge next term.
