Howedes HummelsMesut Ozil has recommended Mats Hummels and Benedikt Howedes to make a move to the Premier League.

The defensive German duo are both being tipped with moves away from their respective clubs this summer, with Hummels attracting interest from Manchester United and Howedes intriguing the Gunners.

And Mesut Ozil, who swapped Real Madrid for Arsenal in 2013, has urged his German compatriots to join him in England:

‘In principle, I would recommend every player to go to England. The Premier League is the best league in the world.

‘Players like Mats and Benedict certainly have the potential to succeed in the big clubs [in England].’

Arsenal could do with one or two defensive recruits this summer and have been linked with a number of centre-backs in recent weeks, including Hummels and Howedes.

Howedes has expressed his desire to make a move to the Premier League, if he were to leave Schalke, and Arsenal have reportedly approached the German club over the availability of the 27-year-old.

While Hummels has also been on Arsenal’s radar, but is supposedly close to signing for Manchester United. However, the Gunners could still hijack a move for the 26-year-old.

Hummels or Howedes would be a welcomed addition to the squad, and Ozil could hold the key to any potential deal involving either joining Arsenal this summer – hopefully one of them do.
