Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £21 million fee with Juventus for Arturo Vidal.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for a few weeks now and Chilean newspaper La Stampa claim Arsenal have finally landed him for £21 million on a five-year deal.
It’s thought the move will be announced after the completion of the Copa America next week.
But while the Arsenal faithful will be excited and elated to hear that Vidal is possibly on his way to the Emirates, is he what the Gunners really need this summer?
Arsenal desperately need a holding midfielder to come in and compete with Francis Coquelin. Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are the only other two that operate in this position, but both are getting on and not viewed as regulars.
Now as much as I would love to see Vidal come in, the Chilean is not really what you would classify as an anchorman – he is more of a box-to-box midfielder – and I don’t think signing him solves our problem…unless of course someone makes way for his arrival.
With that said, if reports are to be believed, bagging Vidal for £21 million from Juventus is a great piece of business and although he isn’t the holding midfielder we need, the Chilean would certainly strengthen and bolster our midfield options ahead of next season’s campaign.
Vidal is part of player will need
Im sure he compatriot Alexis will motivate him to show the same kind of work rate and and positive mentality
Will surely put in the same kind of work rate and positive memtality as his compatriot Alexis
Yes vidl’s animalizm is wht arsnl MD has been msng sinc p.viera time.
we Now need expérienced winners and Vidal is approved its anice bzness.
Vidal is great but too similar to the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey who are already struggling to break into the starting 11 at times, despite good form.
Schneiderlin would be perfect, solid competition for Coquelin, a suitable like for like replacement for Arteta, a big frame and composure, offers PL experience and is still only in his mid-twenties.
I love vidal,Arsenal have miss player like vidal since the depart of patric viera era in Arsenal.it will be a good signing.
Fabulous signing dat’ll be…could play deep laying role wit coq depending on our opponents.fantastic work rate and a burning desire to win.one orthodox striker and we set for an all out challenge next season.
If he signs then someone major is leaving. Probably Wilshere.
if this is true,it shows that @ least we too are active in the market and making progress.wenger,go grab #a LB,a CB and two clinical finishers for us.operation #the trophy this season!!!it’s long overdue
