Our season is over before its even begun

WengerThis season started off with much promise. Arsene Wenger managed to bag a few bargains in Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle, Danny Welbeck from Man United for £16 million and unbelievably convinced Alexis Sanchez to join from Barcelona. On paper, our squad is one of the best in the country and a lot of us were hoping for more silverware this season after winning the FA Cup in the previous one.

The Emirates faithful were elated to have broken the nine year trophy drought last season and many hoped that it would push the side to bigger and better things – preferably, a serious title challenge for the Premier League crown. However, after just 11 league matches, our ‘title charge’ looks all but dead – even Wenger believes this to be true after losing to Swansea City yesterday afternoon, conceding the title is Chelsea’s to lose.

Out of the Capital One Cup in the third round, unrealistic challengers for the Champions League and what seems to be another fight for a top four finish. So realistically what can we hope for this season? Well we need the entire Chelsea squad to come down with something serious in order to get back into the Premier League title hunt, and need a hell of a lot of luck to lift the Champions League trophy – let’s face it, neither will happen, nor will we win these two trophies this season.

Our only hope of obtaining another piece of silverware this season is in the FA Cup, and we haven’t even entered December yet.

I don’t know what’s gone wrong this season but I think it will end up being another disappointing one – unless you consider a top four finish an achievement!

If you don’t know what went wrong, then why on earth would even bother to publish this blog!!
Two words for what’s gone wrong…Arsene Wenger.

Totally agree John. Whatever about losing leads and having the squad deficiencies, sitting there for 90 minutes watching a 19 year old right back with less than a full season experience getting roasted and not doing anything to help hi is inexcusable

The problem was that we started the season two players short, an experienced CH and a quality DM. We were short of bodies in defence and once we got long term injuries we were in trouble. John above is correct, Wenger must take some of the blame. Yesterday he should have sorted out the situation with Chambers being over run. in the end it cost us the game. I have been a supporter or Wenger but even I am getting to the pointy where maybe it is time for parting of the ways. It’s hard to know why he didn’t buy these players when everyone could see we needed them.

What went wrong was Wenger’s decisions in big games. The guy sits there twiddling his thumbs thinking ‘what should I do now?’. We have the players but the manager doesn’t seem to know how to get the best out of them.
