Arsenal are confident that they can land Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels in January in a deal worth £32 million, according to the Metro.
Reports are suggesting that Arsene Wenger will look to strengthen his back-line and has identified the German international as his main target and an official bid is on the cards.
It is believed the Gunners will offer £32 million for the 25-year-old and hope it will be enough to bring him to the Emirates.
Wenger only has Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny to call on in the centre-back position and although Calum Chambers has featured in the centre of the back four already this season, the England international is still learning his trade.
Bringing in a new centre-back would be a wise move to undertake, and undoubtedly Hummels would be the right man for the job.
However, it is thought that Hummels plans to stay at Dortmund for life and for this reason alone it’s hard to see this proposed move transpire – especially during the January transfer window.
