Mathieu ValbuenaArsenal have been put on red alert after Marseille coach Jose Anigo admitted they would consider selling Mathieu Valbuena this summer if a ‘good offer’ was tabled.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old on a number of occasions but have failed to land the France international.

But they may well rekindle their interest in Valbuena once again when the season is over after Anigo revealed he would be willing to let the diminutive Frenchman leave after many years of service.

Quoted in the Metro, Anigo said:

‘If we received a good offer, we won’t force him to stay. He has given a lot to our club so if he wants to he can leave.’

Valbuena, who has contributed two goals and five assists in 28 appearances in all competitions so far this season, has been at Marseille since 2006 and is tied down to the Ligue 1 outfit until 2017.

It remains to be seen whether or not Arsene Wenger will renew his interest in Valbuena after Anigo’s latest comments. But with a lack of pace and depth in the side, Valbuena’s experience and agility would be most welcomed.

If the price is right, I’m sure Wenger will seriously consider a move for the Marseille winger this summer.
