Karim BenzemaArsenal are just one of three teams waiting to see whether Karim Benzema will sign a new deal at Real Madrid, according to the Daily Express.

Although the French striker’s contract is not up until 2015, talks over an extension to his existing deal are underway, with the La Liga outfit wanting to hold on to him for a further four years.

And while an agreement is expected to be reached, reports in Spain claim Arsenal, Juventus and PSG are ready to make a move for the 26-year-old if contract talks stall.

If an extension cannot be agree by the start of the new season then Real may seriously consider cashing in on Benzema rather than risk losing him on a free the following summer.

Last season, Benzema was the subject of the Bernabeu boo-boys and was out-of-favour under Jose Mourinho. Many thought the arrival of Gareth Bale last summer spelt the end for Benzema at Real, but the France international is now the club’s first-choice striker under Carlo Ancelotti and has been in great form this season, scoring 20 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions thus far.

However, things can quickly change at Real when it comes to management and while Benzema is favoured under Ancelotti, a potential new manager may have other ideas.

So until a deal is signed, Arsenal still have a glimmer of hope of acquiring Benzema.
