Demba BaArsenal are short of options upfront, with Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner both sidelined through injury, and it is apparent that the club need to sign another striker to help out Olivier Giroud with the goals..

But while everyone has their favourite striker who they would love to see join the Gunners, former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour should look no further than Demba Ba.

Arsenal were reportedly close to signing the Senegalese forward on loan last summer but Chelsea decided against the deal.

But Parlour believes Arsene Wenger should return with another bid for Ba before Friday’s deadline day, although he does admit it will be difficult to prise him away from Stamford Bridge:

‘You need a big squad and I’m sure Arsene Wenger is looking at the situation and thinking, ‘who can we bring in to help?’

‘Demba Ba would be perfect for Arsenal. They need someone like that, but would Chelsea let him leave for Arsenal? I don’t know at the moment. They have sold Juan Mata to Man United but maybe they are viewing Arsenal as a little bit more of a threat at the moment.’

While we would all love to see the likes of Diego Costa come in, we have to be realistic at are chances of signing such a high-profile striker with only three days to go.

Would Ba be perfect for Arsenal like Parlour says? I don’t personally rate him but I think a loan move would be wise to consider and would certainly reinforce our forward options for the short-term.
