Sebastian GiovincoSebastien Giovinco has once again been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Juventus forward’s agent has ruled out an imminent transfer to the Emirates this month, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.com.

With the Gunners eager to sign another forward to help out Olivier Giroud with the goal burden, they appear to have turned their attention to the out-of-favour Juventus forward.

Giovinco has been a long-term target of Arsene Wenger’s and with the little Italian not starting as many games as he would like to at Juve (two Serie A starts so far this season) questions are now beginning to be asked about his future at the Serie A club.

Liverpool were reportedly keen on the 26-year-old and his agent, Claudio Pasqualin, says Arsenal have merely enquired about the availability of the Italian international, but insists a move to the Emirates will not transpire this January:

‘Giovinco and Arsenal? There is a request for information, but nothing beyond that.

‘It is probable that Sebastian will stay at Juventus. It’s nice that there are interests of this type, but that is how it is likely to remain.’

Although Giovinco is a talented footballer, he isn’t the right type of forward we are looking forward.

In my opinion, we need a typical centre-forward, someone that can score goals regularly and Giovinco isn’t consistent enough in front of goal as his 13 goals in 46 appearances for Juve over two seasons suggests.

He is more of a second-striker, someone to that plays the killer pass through to the centre-forward, and I think we have enough of these players at our club already.

Good player but not exactly what we need at the moment. I would rather Wenger target a more prolific striker than bring in Giovinco.
