Javier ManquilloReports in Spain claim Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo.

The 19-year-old has made just four appearances in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side so far this season but, according to Spanish newspaper AS – reported by talkSPORT.com, Arsene Wenger is closely monitoring the youngster as a potential replacement for Bacary Sagna, who is out of contract in the summer.

Manquillo played for Real Madrid’s youth team before moving to fierce rivals Atletico in 2007. It was only in 2012 when the youngster made the breakthrough into the first-team, where he has made a total of 11 appearances to date.

Manquillo, who is a Spain Under-21 international, is contracted to Atletico until 2018 and considering the length of his deal at the Vicente Calderon, the La Liga outfit appear keen to keep hold of their young talent.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger will step up his reported interest in the young Spaniard – I think it all depends on whether Sagna decides to extend his stay at Arsenal.
