Kevin Kampl ‘dreams’ of playing for Arsenal one day, according to reports in Slovenia
The 23-year-old, who plays for Red Bull Salzburg, has contributed 10 goals and 16 assist in 29 appearances in all competitions so far this season for the Austrian side and although he began his playing career in Germany at Bayer Leverkusen and wouldn’t turn down the chance to play in the Bundelsiga again, the Slovenian midfielder also dreams of one day playing in the Premier League for Arsenal, citing his admiration for their style of play as the main reason for this.
Kampl told Slovenian daily sports newspaper Ekipa:
‘England has its own charm and London is a unique place.
‘There’s also Arsenal, the club that I like very much because of their style of football.
‘Sometimes when I watch their games, I close my eyes and dream of how it would be if I was there playing for them.
‘This certainly is a dream and I hope that one day it will come true for me which is why I’m always giving my all during training sessions.’
Now I’m guessing a lot of you are asking yourself ‘who is this guy?’ right?
Well here are a five things about the man who dreams of playing for our club:
1. To date, Kampl has played for four clubs these include Bayer Leverkusen (as stated earlier), Greuther Furth, VfL Osnabruck and VfR Aalen, before joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2012.
2. Known for his creativity, technical ability and dribbling skills, Kampl is Salzburg’s ‘go to guy’. He likes to come deep to receive the ball from his attacking midfield position and look to create something out of nothing – six goals and 14 assists in 33 matches last season isn’t bad going.
3. The Slovenian was nominated for the best player in the Austrian Bundesliga award at the beginning of the season, but he lost to Austria Wien striker Philipp Hosiner (goals play a big part in winning individual accolades).
4. Although born in Germany, Kampl is a Slovenian international and has scored one goal in nine caps for the senior side.
5. Red Bull Salzburg signed the 5’11’’ playmaker from VfR Aalen for just €3.5 million (£2.9 million) and the Austrian club could be willing to let him go if an offer between £7-8 million was tabled.
Arsenal need a good striker that would compliment giroud upfront
.
Its nøt a bad buy if we snap him up since he is creative, can score and assist as well. We still need a dribbler as a wide man
A good striker need not be too expensive!
There’s a few who fits this billing… Wenger and his team of scouts definitely know!!!
