Arsene WengerArsene Wenger has revealed his transfer plans depends on how long Nicklas Bendtner is sidelined for.

The 25-year-old suffered an ankle injury after scoring against Cardiff on New Year’s Day, but it remains to be seen how long the Dane will be out for, with Wenger revealing after the game that the striker could be out for weeks.

However, Bendtner could be ruled out for months with the club medics to confirm the seriousness of the injury in due time.

Should weeks turn into months then Wenger admitted he may well have to delve in the transfer market this month to bolster his already thin options upfront.

The Frenchman said:

‘My transfer plans depend on how long Bendtner will be out for.

‘At the moment we are just considering our options. I must confess they are quite restricted.

‘If it’s months rather than three weeks, then we would have to think about buying.’

A number of strikers have been linked with a move to the Emirates this month, but it remains to be seen if any of them will sign for Arsenal.

Wenger himself admitted he doesn’t have a lot of options to consider, but regardless of the length of Bendtner’s injury, I believe we must sign a striker. We cannot rely on Olivier Giroud all the time and, in a positive way, I hope Bendtner’s injury forces Wenger to spend some money and bring someone in to help out with the goals.

We all know we need to sign another striker, hopefully Wenger does.
