What areas does Wenger need to reinforce this January?

Arsene WengerArsenal have been in great from this season. We currently top the Premier League table going into the New Year and actually look like genuine title contenders this term.

Arsene Wenger disposed of a lot of deadwood over the summer and managed to acquire the services of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid over the summer. It was a signing that showed Arsenal CAN still compete for the services of the high-profile players in the game and one which is showing the football world that we do mean business this season.

The signing of Mathieu Flamini has been one of pure genius from Arsene Wenger, as the tenacious French midfielder has given Arsenal what they have been missing since Patrick Vieira left the club, steel and precious experience in the middle of the park. And to think, Wenger was actually considering not signing him! Bet he’s glad he did.

Our defence, although not strengthened over the summer, seems more unified and more organised from past campaigns. So far, 19 games played, 18 conceded – the joint-best defensive record alongside Everton.

As for our attack, we certainly have the quality but the quantity of strikers is lacking. We have relied on Olivier Giroud thus far this season, with the Frenchman currently on eight in the league. However, it is clear as crystal that he is jaded and that we need someone to come in and help him when he hasn’t got his shooting boots on.

Looking through our squad, I believe we need to bring a few more new faces in January.

Personally, a striker should top our wishlist. I would also like to see another right-back come in along with perhaps a NATURAL left-sided winger – Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere can’t play this role (well they can but they’re unaccomplished in this position). If we manage to get in three players, not necessarily of world-class stature but players that can offer decent cover should others be unavailable, then we will go all the way this season and hopefully break our trophy drought.

So, with the January transfer window only two days away from opening and our club being linked with a host of players, who should Wenger attempt to bring in? More importantly, what areas do you believe need reinforcing?

We need to sign up a strong holding midfielder, defensive back and striker. Every thing else will be uncivlized. Trophy drought will be over in 2014.

Lets look @ it dis way,Giroud said theres no need bringing new forward man, eversince the league started in August 4 a good prolific striker to have scored 8 goals in 18-19 appearances.just rubbish it.A GOOD STRIKER, A DEFENDER,A RIGHT BACK AND NOTHING MORE.TROPHIES IS ASSURED.

I will like if Mr Wenger can pls invest in a nice striker becos for me am not criticising Giroud. He tried but sometime he needs to decide sometime when ball is passed to him and turn in nice place and compose himself to take a good shot I mean not all time u needed one two ball. And another is if we can get a nice utility defender I mean the likes of Alves, Lham who can play 2 or 3 conveniently and some shift to central defence. I hope this will help a lot. My midfielder is still the best the season.

A striker is needed badly, Lewandowski or Benzema. If that’s not on go for Morata on loan. Give Podolski more gametime also. The Ox is due back, so if westay injury free we’ll be fine with a striker although i would love to see Draxler join but we don’t need him, too similar to Ozil, Cazorla.

  • daenbaba says:

like others, good nd compitent striker is the first priority then a right back defense nd a strong man blocking 4.

  • Daouda Sukama says:

In my concerns,we need to buy at least two players, one Central forward and holding midfielder if we want to get our hands on this year’s trophy.
When I look at our team, l always see we’re short of players, I mean about that we don’t have the team B as Chelsea or M.City have got, l mean the player we can bring in the pitch and changing the game.
