Diego CostaIt’s been reported Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid’s goal machine Diego Costa. It’s also been revealed lately that the Brazilian has a £32 million release clause in his current contract.

And with Arsenal in desperate need of striking options, with Olivier Giroud being heavily relied on to bag the goals, should, even if it is thought that the club do not wish to, activate the forward’s release clause?

The Daily Mail suggests Arsene Wenger will send scouts to watch the 25-year-old’s next two games against Sant Andreu and Levante with a view to possibly sign him.

Costa has been in superb form for Atletico, scoring 22 goals in 21 games in all competitions so far this season, 17 coming in 16 La Liga games, level with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although the striker’s contract does not expire until 2018, any side who offer £32 million to Atletico for Costa’s services will have permission to speak to the player.

So after failing to sign Luis Suarez over the summer and look highly unlikely to acquire the Uruguayan in January, should Arsenal table a £32 million bid for Costa instead?

I for one would love to see him at Arsenal – the guy is a goal machine. He also possesses great strength and technical ability as well as being two-footed.

His £32 million price-tag is worth its weight in gold, in fact, I think it’s a bargain in today’s game. We can afford the transfer fee and certainly the player’s wages (believed to be around £50-k-a-week).

Although Suarez would be the dream signing for many, he won’t be leaving Liverpool this season, and believe Costa is an ideal and more realistic signing instead for us this January.

Activate the clause and bring in one of the most prolific strikers in Europe to fire us to silverware this season.

£32 million for Costa?

Would he be an ideal signing for us?

Costa is a superb player and I would love Arsenal to sign him but no one seems to be looking at the facts. Why would he want to leave Atletico Madrid? They are fighting for their first title in years, he is scoring goals for fun, they could even win the champions league AND he likes Spain so much that he has turned down the chance to play for his native country (Brazil) to play for Spain.
ALSO, why the hell would Atletico want rid of him?

Depends on who you talk to but Wenger does not have a very good record when it comes to negotiating, he`s a procrastinator and waits (often too long) to make up his mind. Anyway, he`s the boss and he will decide who comes and who leaves.

I wonder why wenger is so relactant with giroud only let him sign costa immediately we take trophy.

Yes Costa would be ideal for us but we have little to no chance of getting him. Why would they sell him? And why would he want to leave. Atletico have a great chance of their first title in years, a good chance in the champions league and he likes Spain so much he has turned down the chance of playing for Brazil to represent Spain. Doesn’t sound like he’s going anywhere to me

Atletico won’t want to sell him, but if we meet his release clause, it would be in Costa’s hands. Who’s to say where they’ll stand by the end of January, Barca may have opened up a gap by then and we could still be in the running for the Premier League. There’s little question he thinks highly of Atletico and Spain, but that was even more of the case for Jose Antonio Reyes with Sevilla, and that deal was clinched quite easily once the fee was met.

We could offer him the chance to play for one of the biggest teams in the biggest league in the world, with a big increase in wages. The critics always like to point out the lack of recent trophies, but the Mesut Ozil signing hasn’t gone unnoticed, and players now realise the shackles are off and Arsenal will compete for titles in the upcoming years.

Suarez. A player who bites opponents who annoy him and headbutts a referee who upsets him. A player who wants £200,000.00 a week wages and will cost £100 million to buy. Do we need a player like that? . like f…. do we need a player like that….. Buy Costa now.
