La Liga trio keen on Arsenal left-back this winter

|

Nacho MonrealWhile we are speculating on who our side will bring in this winter, we haven’t even thought on who could be leaving the club when the transfer window re-opens.

We have read in recent weeks that Thomas Vermaelen could potentially depart due to lack of first-team action with the World Cup in Brazil a few months away, and it seems, for the same reason, according to the Daily Mirror anyway, that Nacho Monreal is contemplating a move away from the Emirates this January for exactly the same reason.

The 27-year-old Spaniard has found it difficult to cement a regular spot in the Arsenal line-up since arriving from Malaga over the summer with Kieran Gibbs being Arsene Wenger’s first-choice left-back.

But despite Monreal recently revealing he is finding it hard watching the action unfold this season on the bench, the Spaniard is believed to be happy to fight for his place.

However, he may change his mind knowing three La Liga clubs are interested in him, even though Arsenal want to retain his services.

Valencia, Real Sociedad and Granada are thought to be the three Spanish outfits keen on Monreal.

To be fair it wouldn’t be a huge loss if Monreal was to leave in January – we could use Vermaelen in this position should Gibbs pick up an injury.

I think having him on the field with Kieran gives the team options that Vermaelen does not on that side of the field. Plus Kieran can be rotated from time to time. With Theo back and Alex on his way Wenger will have options in terms of midfied..both Gibbs and Monreal finish off matches nicely.
