Gunners to up bid for Corinthians star

|

PatoReports in Brazil claim Arsenal tabled a £6.5 million bid for Alexandre Pato but Corinthians rejected the offer.

However, TalkSPORT.com suggest the Gunners will go back in with a higher offer for the Brazilian forward – as he is has fallen out with the fans, with many wanting him sold in January – and could succeed this time around, according to Lance newspaper.

Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old for a few seasons now and since moving to Corinthians from AC Milan in January, Pato has struggled to find his feet at the Brazilian outfit.

Arsenal have had to rely on Olivier Giroud to bag the goals this season and so far so good. But should the Frenchman pick up a long-term injury, then we would have to look to Nicklas Bendtner to find the back of the net, which is daunting to say the very least.

Although we have Theo Walcott back, many would question whether he can lead the line for the Gunners on a regular basis. So a striker this January would be much appreciated this winter and Pato would be a great signing for us, giving us another option upfront against the quicker defenders of the Premier League.
