Is he finally starting to show what he is truly capable of?

premier-league-olivier-giroud-arsenal-reading-emirates-stadium_2922450Before his title winning season with Montpelier in Ligue 1 two years ago, Olivier Giroud was an unknown French forward. Fast forward to 2013 and the 27-year-old finds himself playing for Arsenal on a regular basis.

When Giroud arrived a shadow of doubt was cast over his acquisition and whether or not he’d actually manage to replicate the goal-scoring form that spearheaded his former club’s title winning campaign.

The France international is known notably for his size, physical style of play, aerial ability and hold up play. He also has a tendency of making runs to the front posts that often unsettles and out smarts many of his opposition defenders.

The aforementioned traits were all visible in the Frenchman last season but he did seem to find it hard to adjust to the Premier League, despite bagging a respectable number of goals.

But has he finally settled at the Emirates and showing what he is truly capable of?

By the looks of things, he has. His form is consistent; he’s bagging goals and playing with a lot more confidence than he did last season. He’s linking up well with his team-mates and isn’t too far away from being involved in a few key moves that lead to goals or goal-scoring opportunities.

When Giroud arrived I knew he would come good eventually. He’s an old school target man with the ability and know how of a modern day forward.

I wouldn’t expect Giroud to shatter any goal-scoring records at Arsenal just yet, maybe bag us 20+ goals this term, especially when you consider the amount of flair and creativity we have been blessed with in midfield.
