Heldt insists Arsenal target going nowhere this January

|

Julian DraxlerJulian Draxler has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for the past year or so, and rumour has it the Frenchman will re-ignite his interest in the Schalke playmaker when the winter transfer window opens.

However, Horst Heldt, Schalke’s general manager, insists the Bundesliga club will retain the services of the 20-year-old.

Draxler, who has been capped seven times for Germany and featured 118 times for Schalke since 2010, is one of the hottest prospects in German football and Arsenal were reportedly weighing up a move for him on summer transfer deadline day.

Schalke were not willing to listen to any offers for their young star and Heldt says this remains the case ahead of the January transfer window:

‘We will retain Draxler.

‘There will be no dramas this winter.’

Although Draxler is one hell of a player and many fans at the Emirates would love to see him come to Arsenal, do we really need another creative player joining our ranks this winter?

Evidently, this season, we are creating a lot more chances with Mesut Ozil in the side and we could do with another centre-back and striker coming in this January, not another midfielder!
