Luis-Gustavo-DiasArsene Wenger is attempting to tie up a £14 million deal for Bayern Munich Luiz Gustavo after the Frenchman admitted the club need to start splashing the cash this summer.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of midfielders already this summer, with Marouane Fellaini being the most recognisable. However, Gustavo now appears to be on top of Wenger’s list of potential midfield recruits.

Reports in Brazil suggested The Gunners had already agreed a deal for the 26-year-old, but Wenger dismissed these rumours by saying ‘there is nothing concrete yet’.

Although he wouldn’t be my first-choice of midfielders to bring in – I would pay Everton what they want for Fellaini – Gustavo would still be a very good addition to the squad. And for £14 million it would be seen as a good piece of business by Wenger and the board.

If we manage to acquire the Brazilian and sign Luis Suarez, I will be more confident of our club winning silverware this season.

arsen wenger is only good at discovering talents and prising all over the globe and end up not buying any. watch out all these movrs it will be a fluke as usual

Re-Arsene Wenger is very very good at discovering talented players and pricing all over the globe and end up buying none before close of window. I can bet a million dollars all these attempt will end up in futility as usual when window closes

Very poor article have you ever actually seen Gustavo play as a dm he’s miles ahead of fellani and a far superior footballer all round arteta is really struggling as it looks like his legs are gone so I think this is a vital and excellent addition a striker and a centre half and I really believe we can challenge for the title.

Fellaini better than Gustavo at DM? I’m sorry but your wrong.

Fellaini can play in a double DM pivot but he is better as a AM/SS. We do not need Fellaini.

Agreed, Gustavo is not the best option but he is not a bad option. As far as pure DMs he is the best avaiable maybe apart from Khedira. If you wanted a more all rounded midfielder L.Bender, S.Bender, Gundogan are better options. Problem is none of these players are for sale and Wenger would have to pay £25-30 million to get one of them.

Hallo all.. Why aren’t we gunning for this lad called toby anderwearld(not sure of the spelling) i have watched that lad somany times, he is top quality, as good as vertoghen and vermealen but maybe a little bit inexperince but he is just 24! Shouldn’t we be looking to pair him up with koscielny? And he can be gotten for £8m, i say we give ajax the money we made from the sale of gervinho. What do you guys think about this?

When you are looking to generate as much money for your American sports franchises you don’t want to be needlessly spending money on a team or sport that you know absolutely nothing about – Arsenal have previously sold their best players now they are selling everyone….
