Forget about Bernard, give this young Gun a shot instead!

Ryo MiyaichiAccording to Bernard’s father, the Atletico Mineiro winger would rather seal a move to Porto than Arsenal.

Should we be concerned? Perhaps a little, especially if we lose Gervinho to Roma in the upcoming weeks.

Should the Ivorian winger be sold then a replacement will be needed. But it doesn’t look like it will be Bernard. Not if what his dad is claiming is true.

However, it seems Arsene Wenger has someone else in mind that can make an impact this season…Ryo Miyaichi.

Last Friday, Wenger believes the Japan international, who has been loaned out to Feyenoord and Wigan since joining The Gunners in 2011, it is now time for the 20-year-old winger to progress at Arsenal.

After Arsenal’s 2-1 friendly win over Urawa Red Diamonds, the Frenchman said:

‘He did well, he’s sharp and he’s in the team. I like him.

‘I believe that he is in a position now where he needs to play to have a good chance to play at the top level.

‘At the moment he stays in the squad. If we buy more players I will reassess the situation. At the moment though, he will definitely stay with us.’

To be honest, I’d rather give Miyaichi a shot this season rather than sign another young winger (Bernard).

If Miyaichi is as good as Wenger says he is then why not give him some games this season in the minor cup games and in the Premier League against the ‘lesser’ sides? Why go out and splash the cash on another player when you have raw talent waiting in the wings.

I really want to see what this kid is capable of when he is unleashed.

Miyachi was average in preseason, and st wigan before he got injured. Fast but not much else. Bernard is an actual all round talent…

I have seen him and Wellington Silva playing the same position and I definitely would like Wellington to get his permit in January and come and challenge for his spot. He is more promising than Ryo.

Dont hold your breath on this one; Wenger’s statement in Japan was to please the local press to engender support. If the lad was that good he would have started all the pre-s. Zelalem is the one to fast-track.

    You cannot polish a turd.

Ryo is poor and so is Wellington boot.

Our academy is not good enough to produce the players we need to win trophies – I know winning trophies and being successful is not a priority for Wenger and Arsenal but it is for me and a lot of other people who call themselves Arsenal fans. And thats what it should be about, supporting the club and not Wenger. The truth is Wenger has done nothing exceptional in the last eight years. Challenging for a top four place when there are realistically only four teams to challenge for them (including Arsenal) is not an achievement. It annoys me so much to read that there are people who think this is something to be proud of. Wenger should have gone after the 2006 CL Final but he just dragged along achieving nothing and the trouble is he is too arrogant to know when it is time to quit…

Do you support Arsenal or Wenger ? Ryo is just another young player that will go nowhere and Wellington is much the same with a bad attitude to go with it. No thought process, no argument to speak of just an insult. You really are an uneducated nothing…

Why are you still here then?

I’m sure there lots of clubs with trophy for you to hunt…

      • Me says:

Spoken like a true loser – is wanting Arsenal to be successful the thoughts and fancies of glory hunters ? or should we be unambitious and be happy to see Arsenal become nothing but an also ran and be a “true fan” like you ? Really, the reason why Wenger can act the way he does and the board can fleece the fans for every penny and deliver nothing is because of nothings like you who are happy to be fucked by the club – go an pay silly money, cheer them on but don’t EVER fucking complain when Arsenal fall further and further behind….

Think that Arsenal have Theo, Chamberlain, Podolski, Ryo, and possibly Wellington in a year or two. It’s unfairly peculiar that Wellington didn’t get a work permit but Chelsea got one for Lucas Piazon.

Suarez would be a great signing to play up front with Giroud or as an alternative to Giroud, but Arsenal don’t need another young unproven winger.

  • @lakeside says:

Wenger is only playing a mind game with arsenal fans! It is highly obvious that mr wenger lacks ambition. Stop playing mind games with arsenal fans and sign players that can win trophies for our dear arsenal!

  • kings says:

in arsenal we make players am looking forward 2see him

  • arsenal-steve says:

Exactly how to stay mediocre. We need quality players unless you like to be second rate year after year. Miyaichi is not in the same class as Bernard.

  • Roland C Rozario says:

Let US not forget that Arsenal is the King Maker! … where the sheer nurturing of our young Princes in the Reserves have proven to be future Kings! Just see the likes of RVP, Fabregas, Wilshire, Oxlade, Walcott! And the future in Apkom, Eisfeld, Ryo, Chuks, Olsson etc!
BUT I am pretty sure there’s gonna be at least 2 marquee signings before this Summer window closes!
Let’s not read to much into the media print!

    • Me says:

RVP, Fabregas, Chamberlain and Walcott were PURCHASED and by far the two best of them RVP and Fabregas have been sold. Trouble is media print always goes in hand with Wenger’s behaviour in the past so I am expecting nothing…

  • Jayfu says:

Ryo can neva come closer 2 bernad. Bernad is the nxt mess mark my word everyone. Tell wenger 2 go eat a dick.
