‘I can’t believe Arsenal have allowed Cesar to slip through their fingers’

Julio CesarJulio Cesar looks set to seal a season-long loan deal to Napoli, rather than join Arsenal from QPR.

The 33-year-old Brazilian has been told by Harry Redknapp that he can leave the Loftus Road outfit following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Cesar has previously stated that he would like to remain in London, but it appears the experienced shot-stopper is ready to go back to Italy and play under Rafa Benitez at Napoli.

Many Arsenal fans will be wondering how Arsene Wenger didn’t manage to capture Cesar’s signature, and Simon Johnson, a reporter for the London Evening Standard, reckons the Frenchman may regret not following up his interest in the Brazil international, claiming he would have been the ideal signing:

‘I can’t believe Arsenal have allowed Juilo Cesar to slip through their fingers because, for me, he was just the ideal signing.

‘I would have put him ahead of Wojciech Szczesny and let Szczesny learn off a top pro for a few years.’

To be honest, I too can’t believe we haven’t managed to get our hands on him. Cesar seemed keen to stay in London and we were heavily linked with him in the last few weeks – it looked like a done deal to me.

Unless Wenger has someone else in mind, it looks like we will have to rely on the brash Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski this season.

    Wenger is a transfer flop.

Except for the part where he actually hasn’t signed for Napoli yet….

I’ll be glad when silly season is over.

I’m not suprised he has let Cesar go (even though not actually signed for Napoli….yet). Think back to when Mata was in the bag, or when he has come out and said I could have signed Bale, Drogba, Ronaldo (and didn’t). He is totally undecisive in transfer market.

Was it not Wenger who said he liked to conclude his business early in transfer market. Yet he says he is trying hard behind the scenes I mean what does that actually mean.

Do you want the player, Arsene? Then pay the money! Stop dithering around.

I will be pleasantly suprised if he signs Higuain, Fellaini, Suarez or Rooney, yet I doubt he will.

I honestly doubt we will sign anybody. Yesterday’s 7-0 was a bad result as Wenger will now think we are great.

Am sure arsenal will improve&get trophies when this good for nothing manager will go.actualy we dont want him to sign new deal let him go away.he has been offered money to buy best players but he is buying time frustrating arsenal fans.sincerely how long does it take to buy something that pleases u???? Hiquian, fellaini,Rooney ave been available&money is also available but idiot cant buy!!!!nonesense!.

Well of course you and Simon Johnson know best, you are in full possession of all the facts regarding Arsenal’s transfer dealings. Maybe Wenger read the goalkeeper stats from last season and saw that Szczesny came third overall whereas Cesar came ninth. But lets not let facts get in the way of a bit of Wenger bashing. Furthermore there is absolutely no evidence that I know of to suggest that Arsenal were interested in him anyway, apart from people like Johnson concocting stories which are then propagated parrot fashion by people such as you keen to encourage a few hits. And if they were not after him anyway, and I challenge you to prove we were, how has he slipped through Arsenals fingers? Bugger the truth, its all about the hits !!

  • Victor says:

I suggest we allow him to do his work. He is incharge you know.

  • thiago says:

wow…the lack of proper analysis of arsenal fans is astounding.instead of tryin to analyse the situation you just go out and blame wenger.WHAT IF CESAR DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR ARSENAL??????….WHY DO YOU THINK HE HAS NOT JOINED A BIG TEAM SINCE LEAVING INTER??? Idiots….your making this club look bad.
