Time for Wenger to step up his chase for this powerful midfielder?

Marouane FellainiArsenal have one month to sign Marouane Fellaini for £23.5 million.

Fellaini has been a subject of interest for The Gunners this summer but only have until August 14th to trigger the midfielder’s buy-out clause.

The Belgian still has three years remaining on his Everton deal. But should no club trigger his release clause before the expiry date, the Merseyside club will demand more than £30 million for the 25-year-old.

So knowing the details of his release clause and when it expires, should Arsenal step up their interest in Fellaini? Almost certainly they should.

To be honest, I’m surprised we haven’t already activated the clause. £23 million for a powerful midfielder, one with Premier League experience, is a no-brainer in my opinion. And if we are prepared to give Liverpool over £30 million for Luis Suarez, why haven’t we tabled a bid for Fellaini?

Wenger now has one month to decide whether or not he wants to add a ‘quality player’ he keeps going on about for, what is now perceived as a ‘small fee’.

Fellaini would be an excellent signing and for £23.5 million would be seen as a bargain in the current market. I for one would be annoyed if we don’t at least make an effort to attain his signature.

The main problem ‘ll be todays results because AW ‘ll think that he’s a very good team and he ‘ll not buy players. GUNNERZ 4 LIFE.

When a wise man points at the moon, a fool will always concentrate on his finger.
So is AW who very well knowing that we need to sign Fellaini and everybody is telling him so including Arteta who really should understand the heat in the kitchen and what that signing would bring to the team, but he would rather concentrate on NON NONSENSICAL signings only to act very NAIVE when we under perform. So much for an egoistic manager.

How is £23m for Fellaini a “bargain”? We are talking of a player with little experience at top level here and if we have to be realistic, shouldn’t go for more than £15m, being a midfielder for whom moving to Arsenal will be a step up. As someone pointed out, why is there no rush to trigger the clause by other clubs?

Perhaps the reason for lack of interest from other clubs is that all Premier League clubs that could afford Felaini already have capable players at his position. Man C have Yaya Toure, Chelsea have John Obi Mikel ,Ramirez and Lampard , and Man U have Michel Carick. Arsenal are the only top four club in England who need him and could afford him. Everton payed 15 million for Felaini when he was an virtual unknown , so selling him at that price would be plain stupid, wouldn’t it gooner Eris. As for his inexperience at top level, SAF game planed the entire game around Felaini by having Phil Jones follow him around the pitch for 90 minutes , after Felaini almost singlehandedly dismantled Man U at the Goodison Park in the reverse fixture. Last time SAF did that to an Arsenal player was when Patrick Veira was around.

For me, the problem of Arsenal is goal scoring in big and decisive matches; i’ll rather he goes for 2 world class goal-poachers!

    • Jim says:

      Absolute utter rubbish analysis.
If everyone was to think like you then Man U would have never bought Rooney carrick Saha cole & the likes, Chelsea Hazard Mata among many others, Man Citeh with all their buys who proved good investments.
And as far as top level Felaini plays in the premier league which is top top level and has helped them move up the table considerably. So a player who plays well against the likes of Man U and other big teams needs not prove anything more.

And anyway how silly it is to base your opinion on such a small narrative which isn’t even accurate, in your opinion we should continue buying cheap and when they turn out to be good i.e rvp nasri clichy fabregas song viera we lose them to other clubs????
If it was the case then how do you explain the spuds nearly kicking our asses 2-3 to get 4th spot, they have spent to get success and each season they are nearly pipping us to the post. This season was just lucky we finished higher it was luck and nothing more.
A team needs a manager who is a winner like fergie, not an accountant. That’s why fergie deserves respect he put winning for the fans before finances he did his job as a winning manager and left the financial side to others and that’s what wenger can’t and won’t do because he is a control freak who cannot manage men but little boys as another person put it earlier.

Don’t hold your breath he isn’t singing any one of a quality calibre maybe another kid or 2 to groom for other clubs.

      • DGunner says:

And the debt goes on and on. Wenger will sign someone he believes is right for the team.

You spend as many minutes with the team as Wenger does than you get to decide. No one really knows what’s going on behind closed doors.

So just chill the f**k up and wait. And to clarify, luck is quintessential to a winning team, and I quote Man City 11/12. Strong team on they’re on but they still needed that little bit of luck on the final day.

Plus fellaini hasn’t played in champs league, stop shitting yourself with £23.5 million being a bargain
