It’s funny how things develop in the transfer window. One minute we have a deal in place to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid for around £23 million, the next we hear he is staying at the Bernabeu and is newly wanted by Chelsea, with Arsenal’s Champions League chances not looking so great again. I mean what is actually going on with this ‘deal’? I thought this one was in the bag! Apparently I was wrong.
Is Higuain coming to Arsenal this summer? Honestly, I don’t think he is, and I think Arsene Wenger has realised this as well, hence his pursuit of Luis Suarez in recent weeks.
However, the Frenchman looks set to lose both of his targets in quick succession, with Brendan Rodgers stating Suarez will remain at Liverpool and Higuain claiming in the Spanish press today that he is wanted by Jose Mourinho and could still be apart of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at Real.
The fact is time is running out and we have only managed to sign a France Under-21 international from Auxerre on a free. The Higuain deal should have been wrapped up by now and joined our squad for the pre-season tour in Asia. While this Suarez pursuit looks to be going nowhere as well.
I know this may come across as a negative post, but I am simply expressing my concern over the lack of movement from Arsenal in the market. It just looks like history is going to repeat itself once again – get linked with a number of marquee/quality players and end up scrambling to find recruits on deadline day.

Some Idiots have said that Wenger has not bought Marquee Players: Viera, Pires, Henry, Lunberg, Gilberto, Overmars, Wiltord, etc.
A leopard does not change its spots. Well You all want Arsenal to Do A Leeds. If you want these Players, put your Money where your mouth is, You could have bought the shares of the club, and then spent as much of your money as you want. Henry Morris did at the start of the 20th Century. It wasn’t till the thirties that Arsenal won anything.
I would forget Surez or Higuen, Go instead for Benteke, or Better still Bale, if We are talking £40 million or so.
Our Weakness is at the other end, Defensive Midfield like Gilberto Is what we need.
