I picked up The Sun this morning, turned to the back page and what did I see/read – ‘Gunner Gareth’.
Funnily enough, yesterday I had the daily banter with my colleague at work, who happens to be a Spurs fan, a deluded one at that, and sarcastically told him that I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal tabled a bid for Gareth Bale, as the Welsh winger wants to play Champions League football. Obviously, this is a deal which will never ensue.
But at quick glance at today’s Sun Sport, I saw the name Gareth and thought ‘hold up a minute’ and started to laugh. However, that laughter rapidly turned to confusion and disgust when I read that The Gunners are interested in 32-year-old GARETH BARRY!!!
GARETH BARRY? Really? Arsenal are reportedly in this Manchester City and England flop?
I really, really, really hope this is not the case and turns out to be nothing more than a very poor rumour by The Sun newspaper.
I mean, we are looking to build a top quality side to challenge for silverware this season and have been heavily linked with a number of well established players in recent weeks, like Marouane Fellaini and Gonzalo Higuain, and suddenly Barry’s name enters the fray.
I’d rather see Denilson back in the first-team mix than this guy! That’s how much I don’t want to see him at The Emirates.
However, if this is in fact one of Arsene Wenger’s real summer targets and the Frenchman actually signs the City midfielder for the reported £3.5 million fee, then I will officially lose all faith in him.

arsenal is like a toy to wenger, he does wateva he wishes wit it, even if it means breaking the toy’s legs (hindering arsenal’s chances of being competitive next season). If there is an iota of truth in the Barry to arsenal deal, it den means wenger is afraid to spend and fail, and dats why he goes 4 d peanut deals so as to be vindicated and exonerated wen things are not going d way he planned wit his frugality and shrewdness. If wenger fails to spend d money available to him dis summer and fails to win a tangible trophy (epl, ucl) next season, den he must move on to another challenge to give arsenal a breath of fresh air. Wenger pls be wise and do some gud to ur moribund CV.
Wenger lost Pires because he wouldn’t give him a 2 year contract extension, as his policy was only to offer 1 year extension to players over the age of 30. So why the hell would he go in for Garry, a 32 year old has been.

Well the talk about 70mil warchest is really a doubt now in my mind cos if that cash was there higuan n fellaini should be in by now,we have started d countdown 2 a new season n b4 u know it the transfer market is closed then it would be said by d manager that dey couldn’t find d right player instead of admitting that d fund ain’t truly available,penny pinching is a real problem now at arsenal football club n if this isn’t looked into soon we might run outa luck on UCL qual spot soon. First and foremost, we need to complete a deal with madrid for higuain, pay the extra few million if need be then we will be in a great position to attract the top transfer targets we are interested in. We can forget the likes of barry because these other top market players will see our intent. Sign higuain…..simple. As for the spuds, if bale goes, theyre in deep crap.
