Ex-Gunner reckons Arsenal’s latest target doesn’t fit Wenger’s mould

|

Luis Suarez‘He brings baggage with him. There is a trait in his character that brings controversy.’

These are the words of former Gunner Perry Groves on Arsenal’ shock summer link to Luis Suarez.

The controversial Liverpool striker has been sensationally linked to a move to The Emirates, with yesterday’s Sun claiming bookies have even stopped taking bets on this deal to actually go through.

The 26-year-old looks set to leave Anfield this summer following negative treatment from the English press, and has even said that he could not turn down the lure of Real Madrid if they were to register an interest in him.

And while many Arsenal fans would love to see a player of Suarez’s calibre come to The Emirates this summer, Groves reckons the Uruguayan doesn’t fit Arsene Wenger’s remit.

He added:

‘Arsene Wenger is quite big on psychological profiles of players and he doesn’t normally take players with big egos that can cause trouble. I would have thought, from a character side, that he wouldn’t fit Arsene Wenger’s remit.’

Personally, if Suarez was to leave Liverpool then he wouldn’t sign for another English side due to the press being his reason for wanting to depart.

So while I would love to see Suarez in an Arsenal shirt, I simply can’t see it happening – even if we could afford him on both the transfer fee and wages.

Let’s see where this goes.

This is absolutely true – if you look at M’Villa, this was the case and probably is with Loic Remy as well. However Arsene did back and sign RVP when he was going through controversy, the favour was never repaid, and maybe this is why Arsene has such a hard line now.

You guys must surely know Suarez up close to be judges of his character.
