Gunners favourites to land £8.5M Portuguese winger

|

NaniArsenal have been made odds-on favourites to sign Nani from Manchester United this summer after Galatasaray withdrew their interest in the Portuguese winger.

The Turkish outfit tabled a £6 million offer for the 26-year-old but it was rejected by the Premier league champions.

Galatasaray’s chairman Unal Aysal said:

‘We offered £6m for him but they didn’t accept. We cannot give more than this.

‘We are not going to follow Nani any more. We cannot afford to pay more than seven million euros for him.

‘They want €10 million (£8.5 million). Because of this, he is not on our transfer targets list any more.’

BwinBetting have The Gunners at 7-1 to sign the tricky wide-man and Ivan Gazidis has repeatedly gone on record saying the club are in a very secure financial position to splash the cash.

Nani, who made just 25 appearances (18 starts) in all competitions last season for the Red Devils, is entering the final of the year of his United contract and has yet to be offered a new deal.

It is believed he is demanding wages of around £90k-a-week to stay at Old Trafford but United are willing to offload him if the right bid comes in.

Although we could afford his transfer fee and his wages, I don’t think Nani should be our priority this summer. We have other areas of the squad we need to improve.

However, should Gervinho leave to join Marseille then an £8.5 million move for Nani would be a smart move.

He has great ability on the ball, bags of skill and likes to get at full-backs. Most importantly though, he has Premier League experience and has the winning mentality that we currently lack.

But unless one of our wingers leave this summer, I don’t think Nani should be high on our ‘to buy’ list.

Walcott chamberlain wilshire rosicky cazorla podolski – those 6 are already competing for just 3 positions behind the main striker. May be we have room for 1 more (from a new signing, gervinho, campbell, ryo, eisfeld, gnabry) and to be honest I would take nani over all those at present. Selling gervinho and letting campbell ryo and eisfeld go on loan. Gnabry I feel needs another season of under 21 football plus he can play in the new uefa youth champions league.

He’s not a bad player and would add some depth to the squad, could be useful cover for Walcott .. Not sure he’s worth 8.5 Million though..

Would take Nani over Gervinho, certainly. I’m sure he can be just as frustrating but he’s got world class ability.

Really don’t see this one happening, though. He might be surplus to requirements at Man Utd, but I can’t see one of Moyes first actions being to sanction his move to Arsenal, when he could still turn out to be a world class talent and improve our attack.

They’ll either keep him as a squad player, sell him abroad or use him as part of a deal for a key target (ie Bale).

Although Nani appear to be surplus he is a very strong addition.
Remember a time when we had Edu, Ljungberg , Wiltord and
Thherry all competing for places. What a team Arsenal could
bring did a lot of damage anywhere. I seem to recall Edu and Wiltord
scoring winning goals at OT and one was EPL winning goal and it
a long time ago. Nani has things he wants to prove and Theo could
use proper competition Nani could bring. My thinking is we would have
a different weapons to fight defences. Bring him on.
