Why our lack of patience is destroying our players

|

Arsene WengerArsenal have been unbelievably inconsistent in the past six or seven seasons, and as a result, the club has experienced the longest period without a trophy football in their Premier League history. This trophy drought stretches back to 2005 when Arsenal triumphed over then arch-rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Since then, we have only managed to come close to winning something, but have fallen short. We have reached two League Cup finals and lost to Chelsea and Birmingham, as well as the Champions League final in 2006, losing to Barcelona. Of course, this has been attributed to a number of reasons, one of which I believe is down to the impatience and negativity of Arsenal fans.

It is true that all Arsenal fans, myself included, are more than desperate to win silverware. But in spite of such desperation, we need to give the players that Arsene Wenger brings in to the club time to gel. It is common knowledge that the Premier League is the most difficult league in the world, because of the speed at which the football is played. The Premier League is by far the most physically demanding out of the top five European leagues.

This brings me the bug that has eaten into myriads of Arsenal fans. On paper, Arsenal has one of the finest squads in the league, in terms of talent. For me, we have a more talented squad than Manchester United, but look how separated we are in the table! A whopping 24 points, yet none of their midfield players can get a starting place in our team. I attribute this among other reasons to the trust the United fans put in their players. You can never hear United fans boo or hurl insults towards their players, yet at The Emirates, this is starting to be the norm! Emmanuel Adebayor was abused by his own fans when he failed to replicate the season in which he scored 30 goals in 48 games. This made him disillusioned, felt unwanted and finally left for Man City. We destroyed him! Emmanuel Eboue was practically abused by Arsenal supporters against Wigan at The Emirates for putting a string of passes wayward, despite the fans being well aware that that was his first game after a long-term injury, we made him lose any confidence he had left, and eventually lost him!

Ok,ive read peopkes arhuments with regards to our midfield compared to manure. Those moaning about our players lets see a different angle. How nany of Utds midfield will get in either the German or Spanish national squads answer NONE.3 of ours will end of argument.

    • tt says:

hate to break it to you pal but united don’t have any german or spanish midfielders!

and its not just in midfield that they have stronger team than you either, hence the 20 odd point difference

Some of us have seen a really bad Arsenal midfield abd this is a dream compared. The post 2004 supporters will never know or ubderstand but when you see a teamsheet with mf of mcgoldrick,Hillier,Morrow and Helder you then know we at least have ball players now.So support what we have thats what we can afford no matter what we on the outside may think.None of us is a better manager than the manager himself.Opinions are not reality.come to reality and oh the journalists wjo influence most just cite their opinions and whise cock is there to suck at a time.E.g Bale=Messi/Ronaldo.

  • oj says:

Most of the so called fans who slate their own players are post 2004 glory hunters so obviously never saw when it was really dark at highbury and we were boring boring Arsenal and they think this squad is the worst.

If Eboue was any good,he would be playing at a top club, not Galatasaray…I have no idea what point this blog is trying to make.Sagna is far better than Eboue will ever be…so what is your point?…keep rubbish players, don’t get on their backs and pay them fortunes…it’s what we are doing now!!! That’s why we’re 5th and our wage bill is more than double that of Sp*rs’ who are 3rd….so wtf r u on about???don’t complain about high prices and garbage players and just keep paying for your s/t???.,.do you actually go?

Many Arsenal fans are like the professional turd polishers at blogs like LeGrove. Always attacking the team and the coach. That Arsene kept us rolling and built a stadium with no dollars siphoned from Russia or the MiddleEast is miracle.
In 25 years as an Arsenal fanatic I have never booed a player on my.team.
The doomsday undersized genitals playing FIFA12 and yelling Wenger out need to move on and become Blackburn supporters or donate their oxygen to more deserving human beings.

This is a attainable squad we could buy and develop into a formidable side.

    Formation: 4-2-3-1

    —————————Ceasar/Szczeny————————-

    Jenkinson——howdewes—–Koscielny————Monreal

    —————Arteta/Whilshere–Bender/Capoue————–

    Walcott/RemyCabella—–Cazorla———–Podolski/AOC

    ———————-Abumeang/Giroud—————————

  • McGivern says:

Better players? I think Fergie could win the league with The Arsenal team and probably the Champions league too. Mourhino also

The blame lies firstly with the players, then the manager then the board then us, We can’t help but express our frustrations misdirected as they may be.

Eboue is a great example. He earned nay demanded our love because of the passionate and committed way he played despite his weaknesses. Think Ray Parlour!

Wenger has been at the helm and he’s sold our best players, never brought in reinforcements at the right time and tried too hard to do it on the cheap.

We all agree there have been glaringly obvious cheap, quality players available who would have strengthened us immensely over the years but Wenger chooses to do it his way.

I love the man but I love Arsenal more and its time to move on

  • ozEd says:

Completely agree with the author. Football the way we play it is atleast 50% confidence and 50% skill/talent even messi would struggle in the atmosphere we create at the emirates.

  • Ian Selley says:

Nicholas Bendtner was given £52 k a week on a 3 year deal,2 years ago,he has never lacked confidence,he was sent out to Juventus on loan, they didn’t rate him either,he got injured. He still has a year left on a pointless contact..just like Squilacci,Denilson,Park,Chamakh and Djourrou..who were all given massive contracts but with the exception of Djourrou, are no where near good enough to wear the shirt but are bleeding the club dry.You carry on applauding decisions like this, whilst people with eyes and a brain, wonder why the fuck they should part witgh their hard earned cash to pay for wankers to become very rich.

  • If you buy players aged 28 and 25, namely Podolski and Giroud, you cannot afford to give them a season to bed in.I’m sure Wenger bought these players anticipating that they would deliver in their first season.
