Should Arsenal meet this man’s £13M price-tag?

|

Rui PatricioAccording to The Daily Express, Portuguese newspaper ‘A Bola’ claims Sporting Lisbon have placed a £13 million price-tag on Rui Patricio, who Arsenal are reportedly tracking ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Arsene Wenger unimpressed with Wojciech Szczesny’s form this season, the Frenchman has compiled a short-list of goalkeepers, who include the likes of Asmir Begovic, Rene Adler, Victor Valdes and Simon Mignolet.

Patricio, 25, is the latest name to be added to the list and the Portuguese shot-stopper is believed to be one of Wenger’s favourite options this summer.

The Sporting Lisbon number one has made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese outfit so far this season and has been capped 22 times for his country.

But does his price-tag reflect his ability? And is he worth forking out £13 million? Well he’s certainly worth having a look at, in my opinion.

Standing at 6’3’’, Patricio possesses unbelievable reflexes, commands his area well, positioned wisely in most cases and looks destined for big things in the game. And for £13 million, in my opinion, we’d be robbing Sporting. His distribution could be a bit better though and he doesn’t possess Premier League experience, but hey, he looks a quality keeper and I would say out of the lot we’ve been linked with, Patricio looks the best option. He is definitely worth his value!

Hopefully Wenger steps up his interest before others do.
