Frozen out forward fears for Arsenal future

|

Lukas PodolskiLukas Podolski has been frozen out of the first-team and the German believes he could be offloaded by Arsene Wenger in the summer.

The German striker signed for Arsenal last summer from FC Koln and started the season off brightly, featuring regularly in the starting line-up.

However, the 27-year-old has fallen out-of-favour with Wenger and hasn’t started a game for The Gunners since the end of January.

A source in today’s Sun stated that despite his omission from the first-team, Podolski is very happy at Arsenal, but is frustrated at the lack of action coming his way:

‘Lukas is very happy at Arsenal, he loves the fans and enjoys living in London but he is increasingly worried that Wenger may have a problem with him.

“He is frustrated at not playing for such a long time. He is an experienced player and he wants to play football.’

So far this season, Podolski has netted 13 goals and created 11 in 35 appearances in all competitions.

But despite his decent return this season, Wenger has favoured others over Podolski, who has played just 49 minutes of Premier League football since the 9th of February.

He is likely to remain on the bench for today’s game against Norwich, fuelling more uncertainty about his future.

If Wenger decides to show him the door then there will be potential suitors, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid said to be keen on his services.
