Why this man would be the ideal candidate to challenge Szczesny

|

Michel VormA few seasons ago, when I first saw Wojciech Szczesny make his first-team debut against Manchester United, I for one thought for certain that our goalkeeping worries were over.

But a few bad performances, his inability to clear balls properly, indecision and rushes of blood to the head in a handful of games have cost us dearly at times.

Take nothing away from the 22-year-old’s ability. But at some point we have to realize that the only way he could ever reach his true potential is if we sat him on the bench and let a seasoned pro show him the ropes, up until the point when Szczesny begins to put up a real fight for the number one jersey.

So, who could we bring in this summer to challenge and possibly take Szcezsny place in the side you ask?

Well according to weekend reports, Arsene Wenger is looking to bring Michel Vorm from Swansea.

It is believed Arsenal are set to trigger an alleged ‘get-out clause’ in the Dutchman’s current deal which would make him reasonably affordable and a great buy for our club.

The amount in question is not yet known to the general public, but it will no doubt come out as we approach the end of the season.

In my opinion, Vorm would be an excellent addition to our squad. He has the ability to perform in big games, has great reflexes, Premier League experience and commands his are very well.

I know a lot of you may think that this potential move for Vorm could hinder Szczesny’s development progress, but I believe it would do the exact opposite.

Should Szczesny see his career elsewhere, with Vorm potentially coming in as our new number one, then the Poland international doesn’t deserve to be a Gunner, especially if he is unwilling to prove he is worthy of a starting berth by fighting for it.

We definitely need competition in this department and Vorm would certainly provide this.

Lay off szcezney.Any keeper would have problems with that porous defence in front of him.He needs encouragement and decent centre halves not a spell on the bench

there was a time when Man City’s defense was in a similar state… Hart’s ability kept out a lot of goals.. and don’t you think the defense would be more confident to play if the man between the sticks was better??

Vorm? “Talks too much” Vorm claimed that Arsenal was afraid of Swansea.

Leave Sczcz alone. Goalkeepers are supposed to be nutty.

I wonder what all these talk of arsenal looking for a keeper will do to sczny’s confidence. He is young and learning on the job with defenders who are not covering his inexperience. Bringing vorm to arsenal won’t help,I’ll rather we get a much older keeper.

If we had a defence then the keeper wouldn’t have half the problems he gets. You say our keeper haven’t got what it takes to be a top prem keeper but I think our defence would struggle in the champion. I don’t know why bailey don’t get a grips of them

While I share the view that Szecsny has been at fault sometimes, we have more pressing problemsin defence and Defending midfield. Just imagine that our midfield is devoid of ball winners to link to ball finishers. We need a few players who can be plan A and plan B in the centre of the park. The same way we had Vieira, Petit and Later Gilberto. Without them Pirez and Ljungberg could’nt been ball finishers they were. Those two were supplemented by Edu who could win us a game at Old Trafford. So he was worthwhile having when he can win us games like that. We need ball winners. The roles performed by Dembele and Parker at our neighbours. Having ball winners make CB calmer and have no urge to leave their positions pushing upfront.

i think more important is to abandon zonal marking better defensive and goalkeeping coaching. plus sorting out vital partnerships in the team. by that i mean the pairings of centre backs the 2 holding mids. the pairing of the right flank and rb the left flank and lb. plus the pairing of the cf and cam. for me the 4231 is all about those 5 partnerships as much as the team performance. i think we also need a plan b formation and that could mean a complete new x1 designed for certain matches in a 442.
    4231
    fabianski
    jenkinson mertesacker koscielny gibbs
    arteta diaby
    walcott cazorla chamberlain
    giroud

    442
    szcesney
    sagna djourou vermaelen monreal
    ramsey wilshire coquelin rosicky
    gervinho podolski

Sczezny is potentially the best keeper in the division and a worthy successor to wilson big pat lukic and seaman.By all means bring in a more senior keeper to help him out and give him a break, but assure him that he has a long and glorious career at arsenal.Someone like shay given would be ideal as he could teach sczezny the tricks of the trade whilst providing reliable back up.Ps i always thought that wenger should bring george graham in two days a week in order to teach our players how to defend properly. The players we have can obviously defe

The defense is poor. that is true. but a goalie should be able to still do his job and be able to bail his mates out more often than not… this is a good learning experience for Szczesny. he has the potential but he hasn’t been showing it…

When hart first got the nod at city(when mancini took over) city were characterised by a defensive approach almost akin to catenaccio.I remember in particular a nil all draw at home in the manchester derby. So i fail to see where hart was bailing them out.All goalkeepers make mistakes, seaman got lobbed by nayim and ronaldinho in big games.Give szcezny a break ,he did his job away st southhampton, sunderland, even bradford(saving penalties when neefe

Sorry “saving penalties when needed” i never put much effort into typing class
