Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has dismissed rumours linking Yoann Gourcuff with a move to Arsenal this month.
The 26-year-old French playmaker has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for the past few seasons and has once again been linked with a move to The Emirates this winter.
Reports earlier in the week claimed Lyon have offered Gourcuff to Arsenal for a cut-price deal, thought to be in the region of £3 million. However, Aulas insists no contact has been made with The Gunners yet.
TalkSPORT claim Aulas told BeIN Sport:
‘I have not spoken with anyone at Arsenal, there is no negotiation for Gourcuff.’
Gourcuff, whose current contract at Lyon expires in the summer of 2015, didn’t feature for the French club last season after undergoing ankle surgery, but has managed to make 11 appearances (nine as a starter) for Remi Garde’s side so far this season.
I can’t see Wenger signing Gourcuff for two reasons:
1. He has become an injury-prone player. And 2. The attacking midfielder is not required at the club, not anymore.
