Forget about the Dutchman, go for the Frenchman instead Arsene

Oddly enough, we have found ourselves linked with a move for out-of-favour Dutchman Wesley Sneijder.

The 28-year-old has not featured for Inter Milan since September due to refusing to take a pay cut. Many a clubs have found themselves linked with the talented, quick-footed midfielder, and Galatasaray is said to be closing in on a deal. However, Sneijder has seemingly told his agent his preferred destination is the Premier League, making him more attractive to the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and even QPR.

But there is on bump on the road – Sneijder is said to be demanding £200,000-a-week, making Arsenal an unlikely destination for the Holland international.

But is Sneijder what Arsenal truly needs?

With Santi Cazorla continuing to set the Premier League alight and Aaron Ramsey still improving, would it be a good idea to sign Sneijder, even at a bargain price?

Think about it – £200,000-a-week is more than a whopping £10 million a year for the services of a player, who would be fighting for a starting place with the in-form Spanish magician.

Furthermore, he is more than likely to see a signing on fee.

I would rather see Arsenal go for a holding midfielder – a tough-tackling, rock solid, defensive anchorman.

Who springs to mind? Well for me, only one name – Yann M’Vila. The controversial, talented France international was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, but the deal fell through due to Rennes demanding around £22 million for him. However, because of disciplinary problems and bad form, Rennes is said to accept offers in the region of £7 million. And if anyone can get the best out of M’Vila, it’s Arsene Wenger.

Considering the fact that both club and player would agree to a move, I think it is an obvious transfer for Wenger to undertake.

    Even @ £120K he’s a bargain! Propa class act

  • Ogejohns says:

Why compare this two players who play different positions. That’s not ok. For now all arsenal a defensive midfielder, So me I’ll go for m’villa as a matter of need.

The Wenger we know will not bid for a player that expensive even if he plays in Heaven(literally). However with clubs unwilling to match his bills, more deadwoods could be sold and Wesley gotten at 120,000 per week with add-ons

  • arsenal says:

lol wesley is world class mvilla is not even in the same league as wesley wtf you people are crazy. buying wesley would be a positive thing even though we have a half decent midfield. how dumb would rvp be to leave a midfield of wilshire cazorla wesly s arteta? strikers would kill to play for a midfield like that. maybe a stronger dm could make it even better too. but the truth is it will never happen.

    • Arsènal says:

If we bought wesley that would be a sign! A sign that big players can play for arsenal. A step in the opposite direction than all the stars that are leaving immediatly as soon as they’re good enough to go to a winning side… Someone has to stop that and a move for sneijder would be a big step!
Unfortunetly we all know this is never gona happen! Instead, we prefer to buy some kids, form them in to top players and then sell them to “bigger” domestic (!) clubs! Its a shame!

Thats not what we need at the moment, a tough tackling defensive midfielder who can protect the back four and at the sametime pass the ball forward accurately is what we needed. Arteta his good in this position but he is not the best bcos of his size when it comes to aerial battle , he always struggles to hold on to a strong & energetic midfielder. He doesn’t move forward to join the attack due to his lack of pace when to track back. Yan m’vila, Capoue, Steven nzonzi, xabi alonso are the kind of players who can do it. Arteta is an attacking player with good vision and he has the highest number of passing accuracy in the epl but not as long range passes. Then, out & out striker, left winger and fullback.

We don’t need sneijder coz we av carzola, unless his willing to take a pay cut, then that’ll be fine. A box to box mid or a DM.

Wouldst that it were so. You say with cazorla continuing to set the PL alight? and with Ramsey galloping ahead with improvement? Whatever are you smoking? wishful thinking about our actual midfield performance is willful blindness.

  • sammy says:

sneijder is a good player. If we’re serious to win FA cup or finish 4th, players like Ramsey can’t give u that. Loan Ramsey, get Sneijder, M’villa and Mpiwa defender. Though 200k a wk is ridiculous. But 120k or so is ok. It’s becoming late for arsenal. Another trophyless year again?

Forget the frenchman & get dutchman, Kevin Strootman

Have any of you guys actually seen M’Vila this season? He’s failing to stand out in a below average league. We need a player in Jan who can have an immediate impact my prefered choice would be Diame from West Ham despite currently being injured he would only cost 3.5m!!!! (As this is his buy out clause) and hes been impressive when he’s played and is proven in the EPL. I agree we also need a striker and a winger. But couldn’t we go for sneijder and just suck up his wage demands and place cazorla on the wings? Thats where hes been playing for most of his career then we don’t need a left winger and we have at least two world class midfielders in our team. As for a striker I’d suggest pursuing David Vila further and pay barca the 16m they want. There done 2 world class players a beast defensive midfielder for less than 20m in jan job done.
