Despite wanting to be Arsenal’s number one, Vito Mannone would be interested in a move back to Italy to join his ‘favourite’ team AC Milan.

The Italian shot-stopper has managed to start five of Arsenal’s seven Premier League matches so far this season due to injuries to both Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski. And I think it’s fair to say he has impressed in their absences, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

Mannone believes he is now ready to challenge Szczesny for the number one jersey. However, if this does not come to pass then the Italian has revealed that he would be ready to leave The Emirates for the San Siro at some stage of his career – most likely at the end of the season in my view.

Mannone recently stated:

‘It’s good at Arsenal, I want to be number one here.

‘Then [I want to] return to Italy and play in Serie A, perhaps with AC Milan, my favourite team.

‘And finally, with the national team – I am already proven at youth level but with the seniors is another thing.’

He has done well for us so far and it seems Arsene Wenger has faith in his ability.

However, this (Arsene’s faith) will certainly be tested when Shezza is back fit and available for selection.
