An £11M bargain to be had?

I read last week that Arsene Wenger is considering making a bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha if Theo Walcott decides against signing a new deal at Arsenal.

This left me a little wondering why the Frenchman would target Zaha, especially when there are better options out there.

Another thing which ran through my mind was – how much will he cost the club? Well this question seems to have been answered by Palace’s manager Dougie Freedman.

Freedman recently claimed any team interested in the 19-year-old starlet would be bagging a bargain if they landed him for just £11 million.

£11 million!? Really?

Freedman said:

‘I know he is worth more than £11m. You’re getting him cheap if you get him for that.

‘Wilfried has dedicated himself to the game and is heading in the right direction. We give young players the chance to play and that’s what he is doing now.’

He added:

‘It’s a matter of time until he plays in the Premier League and let’s hope that is with Crystal Palace.

‘As we speak right now he’s on a long contract and he’s very happy.’

Zaha has netted four goals in his last two games for the Championship side and it is believed Liverpool and City, as well as our club, are all keeping an eye on him.

The questions now are – is he really worth £11 million and is a potential replacement for Walcott?

I’ll leave this for you guys to discuss.
