Who’d be in your Arsenal XI to take on Chelsea at The Emirates

After drubbing Coventry 6-1 at The Emirates in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night, Arsenal must now turn their attention to London rivals and European champions Chelsea tomorrow afternoon.

We are still unbeaten in the Premier League after bagging a priceless point against Manchester City last weekend, and it looks like we can mount a serious title challenge this season, if of course we continue to perform and lady luck smiles upon us.

The potential return of Thomas Vermaelen will undoubtedly be a massive boost, not to mention resting some of our key players in the Capital One Cup.

It’s unquestionably a massive fixture for both clubs and a win for us will surely make the likes of Manchester United and City stand up and take notice of us, as well as the British media who don’t like to see us do well.

So with this in mind, what should our starting line-up look like?

Well, here is how I think Arsene Wenger should play it tomorrow afternoon:

Mannone

Jenkinson          Mertesacker          Vermaelen          Gibbs

Arteta          Ramsey

Cazorla

Walcott                                          Chamberlain

Podolski

If Vermaelen is available then he has to comeback straight into the line-up. Unfortunately, Laurent Koscielny will have to be placed on the bench if the Belgian is able to play, as Per Mertesacker has been very impressive.

Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla keep their places, but I think Aaron Ramsey deserves to start following his tenacious display against City.

Upfront I would like to see Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski. Their pace and power would cause the ageing Chelsea defence a lot of problems, while all three can easily switch positions with each other.

In addition, I think its time for Walcott to step up and show us, as well as Wenger, what he can do in the centre-forward role (I know, I know, I put him on the wing, but he is bound to get some time up there).

So, who do you guys reckon should start for us tomorrow afternoon against London rivals Chelsea?

    Ox for Diaby.

I think under all circumstances you keep podolski on the left. He works well with Gibbs and tracks back on defense.

We need a fast team able to take on Hazard, Torres and strong in mid field. Verm should not move too much in attack leaving the defense naked.

  • Mannone-jen-kos-v5-gibbs-ox-arteta-carzola-diaby-podulski-theo……. Per.M has played great don’t get me rong,I think he was up there 4 man of the match against mancity.he just makes me feel nervous at times. With kos his solid and more sharper….last season he was world class. I surpose its a good thing having this problem only can make our team stronger. Oh ya as 4 theo he needs that chance up front he will surprice a lot of people

    Ramsey, Arshavin, Arteta
    Carzola, Giruod, Podolski

Tactical having Arshavin in the Playmaker role and Carzola playing the Diaby role and Ramsey on the right. Arshavin and Giroud love each other in the field and Carzola will bring solid strength where it matters for the first half. Win battles in there and the Russian will reign havoc on Chelsea. 2nd see the introduction of Walcott for Giruod, Ox for Podolski with Carzola moving to the usual role and Diaby/Conquelin for Arshavin. Such a line up guarantees high performance all through the match. We win by super outplaying the European Champs…Would be good to reward the Russian for good performance midweek.
